Is CAMS2000 Panasonic PBX Software? CAMS2000 is Panasonic PBX software in the sense that it supports various Panasonic PBX models for call accounting. CAMS2000 is a telephone call accounting system that has ready interface for PBX manufactured by several different manufacturers. Just as
Panasonic, you may also call CAMS2000 as NEC PBX Software or Nitsuko PBX
Software. Our
CAMS2000 call accounting software may also be called Nortel PBX Software
because it supports Nortel’s SMDR6 format. Since
Samsung is also supported, you may also call it Samsung PBX Software. First and foremost CAMS2000 is phone call accounting and management software. The data from PBX is captured using the SMDR interface and stored in the PC. You get various reports that help in management, business and accounting. In case we
do not have a ready interface for a PBX, we can develop it in a very short
development cycle. How is Panasonic PBX connected to computer? One of the
challenges faced by people wishing to receive data from a PBX on their PC is
that of connecting the two. A PC’s serial port (COM1 or COM2) is connected to
the serial port of PBX (called SMDR interface) to achieve this. It is true
that traditionally all SMDR interfaces are serial ports but the pin
connections and male/female socket requirements are not an industry standard.
Even the location where SMDR interface is fixed in a PBX system varies from
one PBX model to another! All latest
Panasonic models have 9 pin male connector, which is like the one you will
find on your PC. Therefore the cable connecting the PC and PBX has to have
female 9 pin connectors on both ends. Also the pin connections should be as
per specification in the Panasonic manual. You can get such a pair from here. Using these connectors and a
standard UTP network cable with RJ45 connectors, you can easily connect your
Panasonic PBX with your PC with COM1 or COM2 serial port. How can I test that connection is working?
Simply download and
install CAMS2000 call accounting software and start the PABX Interface.
You should see data in the small window if serial port setting on PC and
cabling is done correctly. How to make sure that serial port settings
are correct on the PC? Ensure the
correct COM is configured (1 or 2) and port settings are correct (default is
19200,N 8,1 in latest Panasonic PBX models – older models used 9600,N,8,1).
The “correct COM port” is the one to which you connected the 9 pin female
connector. If your PC has just one 9 pin serial port, it has to be COM1 port. |
